Local elementary students introduced to careers in the skilled trades

Kitchener - On Tuesday, February 17th, over 400 Grade 8 students from 21 schools within the region will be participating in a Trades and Technology Day being held at Doon Campus of Conestoga College.  This is a joint initiative organized by Conestoga College, the Waterloo Region District School Board, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, the Wellington Catholic District School Board, and the Upper Grand District School Board. The primary objective of this program is to introduce young people to careers in the skilled trades and technologies through hands-on workshops in one of 11 areas, including computer programming, electrical engineering, nursing, robotics, woodworking and more.  While participating in their assigned workshops, students will also learn about the many skilled trades and technological career opportunities.
