Wilfrid Laurier University and full-time faculty ratify new collective agreement
A joint announcement issued on behalf of the University and the WLU Faculty Association
WATERLOO A new collective agreement for full-time faculty and professional librarians at Wilfrid Laurier University has been ratified by the University’s Board of Governors and members of the WLU Faculty Association.
The three-year deal, retroactive to July 1, 2008, covers salary and working conditions for approximately 500 full-time faculty and professional librarians at Laurier.
“The University is pleased to have reached a deal that we believe is fair and equitable for our faculty and professional librarians, and which is sensitive to the difficult economic climate and the financial challenges facing Laurier and other Ontario universities,” said Laurier president Dr. Max Blouw. “I want to thank both negotiating teams for their hard work and determination to reach a settlement at the bargaining table.”
“These were difficult negotiations under difficult circumstances,” said Dr. Judy Bates, president of the WLU Faculty Association. “WLUFA members welcome an improvement in workload and acknowledge the effort of both negotiating teams to arrive at a satisfactory settlement.”
