Town Hall Meeting
COMMUNITY INVITED TO DISCUSS THE IMPORTANCE OF INVESTING IN OUR CHILDREN
Waterloo Friends of The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation (KWCF) are invited to attend the Annual Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the City of Waterloo’s Council Chambers.
"One of the important issues facing our community right now is the investment we make on behalf of our youngest citizens,” says Nancy Dickieson, Director of Children’s Services at the Region of Waterloo. “We know that there is a strong relationship between high quality early learning and child care and positive outcomes for economic returns including socio emotional benefits for children.”
The Town Hall Meeting is held annually and focuses on identifying and communicating important leadership issues to the community.
“Kitchener-Waterloo's strengths are well known and celebrated by many. Yet, discussion of our shared challenges is somewhat more restrained," says Rosemary Smith, CEO of KWCF. “Each year we take what we’ve learned from our work on Waterloo Region’s Vital Signs and highlight an area of need in our community. This year’s Town Hall will provide an opportunity for our citizens to learn more about how providing a solid foundation from which our children can learn and grow makes an impact on our community as a whole.”
