Trade Skills Excellence Being Celebrated at Conestoga

Outstanding students to receive excellence awards sponsored by industry

Waterloo - On Wednesday, May 19 more than 40 outstanding trades and technology students from Conestoga College will receive a total of more than $30,000 in awards for excellence in their respective programs of study.

The School of Trades and Apprenticeship awards presentation and barbecue will take place at the Conestoga/OMTC Masonry Training Centre, located at Conestoga’s campus site in Waterloo. The awards will go to students in three major trades sectors – construction, industrial and motive power. In addition, a number of entrance bursaries will be given, and Conestoga will recognize its students who are taking part in the May 17-18 Ontario Technological Skills Competition being held in Waterloo, at RIM Park.

Among the many businesses and organizations sponsoring the trades awards on May 19 are Graybar Electrical, Gerrie Electric Supply, the Canadian Welding Bureau, the Waterloo Region Home Builders Association, Home Hardware Stores Ltd., Kappeler Masonry Corporation, Challenger Motor Freight, Toromont CAT and Alltruck International Truck Centres, to name just a few.
