CREATEATHON EVENT POISED TO HELP NON-PROFITS IN NEED

KITCHENER — Two Blonde Chicks Inc. and Conestoga College School of Media + Design invites Waterloo Region non-profit organizations to submit applications for the 13th annual CreateAthon®, scheduled for the first week of October 2010. CreateAthon is a 24-hour blitz in which Two Blonde Chicks Inc and Conestoga College Media + Design students will provide design and marketing services to non-profit organizations on a pro-bono basis.

CreateAthon is an effort that has impacted more than 1,100 non-profit organizations, delivering 2,500 projects valued at more than $11 million across North America and abroad. The program was originally started by RIGGS Partners located in South Carolina in 1996. In 2002, RIGGS decided to expand it into a national CreateAthon Network. The goal: to extend the reach of CreateAthon to the thousands of men, women and children who are in need around the country.
By partnering with Conestoga College’s Media + Design Programs, Two Blonde Chicks Inc. will be able to increase the quantity of non-profit clients while providing the students with valuable experience.

Some donated production and media services from area printers, photographers, illustrators, broadcast production companies, and media outlets have been secured. More partners are welcome if companies are interested in participating.
“The work we are going to do for CreateAthon is more important than ever this year,” said Jolene MacDonald, co-partner of Two Blonde Chicks Inc. “Non-profits have been affected dramatically by the economy, which has had a profound impact on their ability to provide direct services. It’s our hope through CreateAthon to help offset some of this economic pressure for non-profits by donating design and marketing services.“
Waterloo Region nonprofits may apply for CreateAthon services from Two Blonde Chicks Inc. no later than July 31, 2010. Organizations selected to receive CreateAthon services will be announced August 12. Please call 519.585.0036 or email jolene@twoblondechicks.ca for an application, or with questions.
