New driving range marks next step in expansion of Doon Valley Golf Course
KITCHENER The next stage in the expansion process for Doon Valley Golf Course is now complete. As of this Saturday, Aug. 21, Doon Valley will open its new driving range to the public.
“Golf encourages healthy lifestyles,” said Gary Hastings, manager of golf operations. “The expansion and the opening of the driving range help us continue to provide affordable golf activities for citizens, while also helping juniors and beginners get into the game.”
After an extensive renovation that included the construction of new holes, Doon Valley opened its new 18-hole course, along with a nine-hole course, earlier this summer.
In total, 10 new holes have been constructed at Doon Valley and two existing holes have been reconstructed, resulting in a 27-hole course. A pitch n’ putt nine-hole course, which encircles the clubhouse, is also slated to open later this fall.
The driving range will operate daily from dawn to an hour and half before dusk, opening later on Thursdays (9a.m.) for maintenance.
Doon Valley is now one of a few courses in the area that offers a driving range to the community.
