Kitchener Skills Canada - Ontario is pleased to announce that at the head office in Kitchener, Anita Tomins has joined the organization as the new Communications Officer; Emily Waldron is now in charge of Cardboard Boat Races; and long-time registrar Maresa MacAskill has been promoted to the position of Competition Coordinator. Out of the Woodbridge office, Devon Turcotte has expanded her role to include the development of social media communications and Daniel Fowler has joined that office as a School Liaison Officer. In Ottawa, Emily Collard is the new Bilingual School Liaison Officer. Skills Canada Ontario’s mandate is to promote careers in the skilled trades and technologies to young people in Ontario through the delivery of province-wide programs, events and competitions. The annual Ontario Technological Skills Competition (May 24, 2011) at RIM Park in Waterloo draws 1800 competitors from across the province, with students competing in 63 contest areas from welding to web design.
