Third time’s the charm for CAFKA

I Heart Video Art III presented at THEMUSEUM

KITCHENER – The Contemporary Art Forum: Kitchener and Area (CAFKA), as a part of the Grand River Film Festival’s The Best of the Best series, is proud to announce I Heart Video Art III, CAFKA’s presentation of the best in contemporary video art, presented at THEMUSEUM on Friday, October 22nd. A hybrid of art gallery and sports pub, I Heart Video Art is meant to create an engaging atmosphere where you can feed your body and soul at the same time.

This idea of getting the public engaged in art is what developed CAFKA into existence in 2001. CAFKA’s mission is to “present innovative art within a civic space”. This is most evident in their current installation projected on to Kitchener City Hall at night. CAFKA’s mission is focused on engaging the public in contemporary art.

This is the third installment of I Heart Video Art which features CAFKA’s Artistic Director Rob Ring as Curator. This licensed event hosted at THEMUSEUM, will feature up to 16 video screens simultaneously projecting contemporary art with video works by Almerinda Travassos. Steve Reinke, Geoffrey Pugen, John Greyson, Zak Tatham, Terril Calder, Christiana Latham, Ariel Smith, Jenn E. Norton, BearWITNESS & a Tribe Called Red and much, much, more.

“CAFKA is always interested in collaborating with other organizations in the region,” Rob Ring says. “We are thrilled to be participating in GRFF this year & look forward to developing this relationship going forward. Both Video and Film audiences tend to be somewhat insular, despite the obvious crossover, and we are excited to be exposing the Film community to some of the world’s best video art.”
