Skills Canada – Ontario receives grant from KWCF

KITCHENER - Skills Canada – Ontario is the recipient of a $2500 grant from the Kitchener and Waterloo Community foundation Anonymous Fund. The money will go towards the equipment used locally in the organization’s “Skills Work! What’s Out There?” in-school visits.

Operating since 1998, this popular Skills Canada – Ontario program is delivered by nine liaison officers throughout the province, who reach an average of 100,000 students in grades 7 through 12 every year. “One of the most important goals for us is getting the message out that the skilled trades offers a world of excellent career options for young people,” says Gail Smith, Skills Canada – Ontario’s Executive Director. “KWCF’s financial assistance will ensure that our multi-media presentations, delivered in Waterloo Region’s schools, utilize reliable and up-to- date technology to have maximum impact.”
