CELEBRATING SHORT FILM IN EXCELLENCE

2011 BMO Partnership & Call for Submissions

CAMBRIDGE – The Grand River Film Festival is delighted to announce its continued partnership with BMO Financial Group and their sponsorship of GRFF’s annual short film competition. This ongoing support allows the festival to grow and prosper as a milestone event in our region.

GRFF is currently accepting entries to its 2011 BMO SHORT Shorts competition. As a part of GRFF, taking place October 20-23, 2011, the shorts competition is open to any resident of Ontario and is a way to showcase Canadian cinematic creativity. GRFF’s focus is to showcase the next generation of talented filmmakers, with a goal to create exciting opportunities by bringing support and recognition to excellence in the art of filmmaking.

Winning the BMO SHORT Shorts competition at GRFF provides a great opportunity for receiving exposure and gaining recognition in the film industry. This honour for exceptional achievement includes receipt of awards, cash prizes, merchandise and screening opportunities that can help further one’s career. 2010 winner and Waterloo Region resident, James Usas, with his compelling film “Deliveries”, won cash, an equipment package from William F. White International Inc., and was screened during the festival to rave audience reviews.

GRFF encourages anyone interested in filmmaking – novice or expert – to submit their short film to the 2011 BMO SHORT Shorts competition. Whether this film is the first or fifteenth production, each short film is a celebration of what this competition was meant to inspire – passionate ‘cinemaniacs’ creating and sharing their projects with other moviegoers. A GRFF panel will select a total of nine finalists – six from the open category and three from the Student category.

Winners are announced at the 2011 BMO SHORT Shorts Gala in September. www.GRFF.ca.
