Canadian Index of Wellbeing Network moves to University of Waterloo

WATERLOO - The University of Waterloo will serve as the new headquarters of a leading national index that measures the quality of life for all Canadians - the Canadian Index of Wellbeing Network.

Hon. Roy J. Romanow, chair of the network’s advisory board, will join campus leaders and a special guest to officially launch the CIW and release a new CIW report on Canada’s environmental path and its effect on long-term quality of life.

Date: Thursday, April 7

Time: 11:30 a.m.

Location: Sun Life Financial Auditorium, Lyle Hallman Institute Room 1621, University of Waterloo. Parking is available in Lot M.

The Canadian Index of Wellbeing measures the quality of life of Canadians, a key step in promoting dialogue and informing policy to advance the vision of Canada as a caring nation. The CIW offers unique insights in such areas as health, living standards, environment, education, time use, community vitality, democratic engagement, and the state of leisure and culture.

On Thursday, the CIW will also release its report on the environment, the last in a series of domain reports that will pave the way for Canada's first-ever composite index of wellbeing.
