Three CGA-Quebec scholarships presented to doctoral, master's and bachelor's students at HEC Montreal
MONTREAL - Paulette Legault, CGA, President and CEO of the Ordre des comptables généraux accrédités du Québec, presented three scholarships to doctoral, master's and bachelor's students at HEC Montreal school of business at a ceremony honouring academic excellence in the winter 2011 semester.
"CGA-Quebec is very proud to encourage and recognize the excellent academic performance of CGA students enrolled in post-secondary programs seeking to undertake research at HEC Montreal," said Ms. Legault. One doctoral scholarship and one master's scholarship were awarded under a partnership in the form of a CGA professorship in the area of strategic financial information, valued at $250,000. The professorship, which is currently held by Dr. Claude Francoeur, MBA, Ph.D., CGA, an associate professor of strategic financial information, aims to promote research in the field of professional accounting expertise.
Ms. Camelia Mihaela Radu, CGA, received a $10,000 scholarship in recognition of her excellent academic record in the doctoral program in accounting. Her dissertation focuses on environmental innovation on the relationship between environmental performance and environmental disclosure.
Ms. Elena Semenova, CGA, received a $5,000 scholarship in recognition of her academic performance. She is completing her master's in financial and strategic accounting. Her thesis focuses on complex multilayer ownership structures as an instrument of wealth management.
"Each year, CGA-Quebec also awards a scholarship to a CGA-track bachelor's student with an excellent academic record," added Ms. Legault.
Mr. Abdelkader Zoheir Boualga, who is currently completing his bachelor in management degree, received a $2,000 scholarship enabling him to pursue his CGA studies. The scholarship consists of a $1,200 certificate for the CGA-Canada exams and/or exam preparation materials, in addition to a cheque for $800.
