YOUTH LEADERS HOST EARTH DAY CLEAN UP IN CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge – On Saturday April 16, 2011 from 10am to 12 pm youth leaders from the Cambridge Youth Leadership Development Centre (Z Beside the Y) will be hosting an Earth Day clean up around the Chaplin Family YMCA grounds.

Together with Volunteer Cambridge and the province – wide Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge, the Z Beside the Y youth leaders are gathering volunteers in an effort to clean our community and raise awareness of environmental issues.

“It is imperative that we get our youth involved and keep them informed when it comes to environmental issues. We are one the brink of a world-wide environmental crisis and our youth today could be the problem solvers of the future. We need them to care and be aware,” says Faye Bulloch, Director of Communications for the YMCAs of Cambridge & Kitchener-Waterloo.

Z Beside the Y youth leaders are organizing this clean up as a means of emphasizing that youth within our community can take control and make positive changes. They are inviting people of all ages to join them in the pavilion of the Chaplin Family YMCA at 250 Hespeler Road in Cambridge on April 16th from 10am to 12pm and help pick up any garbage they find surrounding the Y.

There will be a celebratory and complimentary pizza lunch for all the volunteers that participate held at the Z Beside the Y following the clean up.

We only have one Earth, so let’s keep it clean!
