GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO GRANT SUPPORTS NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AT CHRISTIE
Christie Invests Over $138 million to Advance Kitchener Manufacturing Facility
KITCHENER - Christie and the Government of Ontario announced an agreement to invest C$20.8 million at Christie’s Kitchener location that will lead to the development of new visual display technologies and the creation of 50 new jobs.
The Ontario government will contribute up to 15 percent of the total eligible costs of a project, until 2014, in support of Christie’s C$138 million investment in research and development including laser technology, process improvement, modernization of its facility, diversification, and the advancement of engineering and manufacturing to enhance Christie’s competitiveness and growth worldwide.
In her speech, the Honourable Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, said that partnering with local business is a key component of the 2011 Ontario Budget - Turning the Corner, to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs for Ontario families and strengthen local economies. The grant is paid over five years, and is subject to customary conditions.
