The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean to discuss national, international issues at University of Waterloo public talk

Michaëlle Jean, will discuss national and international issues during a public talk hosted by St. Paul’s University College at the University of Waterloo on May 12. Jean, the UNESCO Special Envoy for Haiti, will give the 2011 Stanley Knowles Humanitarian Service Lecture, an annual St. Paul's University College event. The talk will take place on campus in the Theatre of the Arts, Modern Languages building, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and pre-registration is required.

Labour Force Survey

Statscan - Following two months of little change, employment rose by 58,000 in April, mainly in part time. The unemployment rate edged down 0.1 percentage points to 7.6%. Compared with April 2010, employment has grown by 283,000 (+1.7%).


Stocks of principal field crops

Statscan - As of March 31, total stocks of canola and barley fell significantly compared with the same date in 2010. Meanwhile, total stocks of corn for grain rose slightly above March 2010 levels, the result of increased production in 2010.
