Siemens Canada goes live with solar inverter manufacturing
Local production supports customers in meeting government FiT requirements
Burlington Siemens Canada’s Industry Automation division has begun local manufacturing of its SINVERT solar inverters for the Canadian solar photovoltaic market. Manufactured at the company’s Burlington facility, the manufacturing of PV Inverters in Ontario allows Siemens’ customers investing in commercial and large ground mount applications, to meet the “minimum required domestic content level” set by the Ontario government’s feed-in-tariff program.

Finding reduces swine fetal loss, nets researcher prestigious award
Kingston - Chandra Tayade has received a prestigious award from the American Society for Reproductive Immunology for his research. A new drug that stimulates the growth of new blood vessels in the uterus lining of pigs could be on the market in a couple of years. The drug will significantly impact the commercial swine industry by addressing spontaneous fetal loss and increasing litter size.

Statscan - As of June 3, 2011, Prairie farmers had either planted, or intended to plant, a record area of canola and greatly increased areas of durum wheat and oats in the 2011 planting season. In the East, Quebec farmers anticipate a record high area for soybeans. Seeding has not been completed in all regions, as reported by farmers.

Statscan - In April, 598,400 people received regular Employment Insurance benefits, down by 6,500 (-1.1%) from March and the seventh consecutive monthly decline. The number of beneficiaries fell in six provinces, with the fastest declines in British Columbia and Alberta.
