Provincial government invests $72.6 million in Laurier’s Global Innovation Exchange
Waterloo - The Hon. John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, announced June 20 that the provincial government will invest $72.6 million in the Global Innovation Exchange facility at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus. This is the largest single capital investment in the university’s history.

Ontario's government is taking action to ensure Ontarians aren’t being charged extra fees to access health care services that are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
Toronto - Ontario is stepping up efforts to investigate potential illegal fees that health care providers charge patients for services that are insured by OHIP. In some cases where multiple complaints have been received, Ontario will immediately expand proactive investigations or spot checks. For example, extra fees charged at medical clinics and fees associated with cataract surgery and colonoscopies will be investigated.

U of T’s medical contributions to be featured on new $100 bills
TORONTO The University of Toronto’s historic contribution to the discovery of insulin for diabetes is one of the high-profile innovations being featured on the new Bank of Canada polymer bank notes being issued this fall. The $100 note will be issued in time for the 90th anniversary of the discovery of insulin by U of T’s renowned researchers Charles Best and Frederick Banting.
