Flying High at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show
Preparations ready for 18th edition of Canada’s largest agricultural trade show
Woodstock - With helicopters landing and equipment arriving and animals getting bedded, the weekend was a busy one at Canada’s Outdoor Park in Woodstock, Ontario all in preparation for Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday September 13, 14 & 15, 2011. As the nation’s largest agricultural trade show, Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show showcases the latest in agricultural technologies and innovations through demonstrations and interactive displays.
Pat Lynch, Ontario Certified Crop Advisor, dropped by over the weekend to survey the 30 acres of corn that has been cut down and prepared to simulate late fall conditions. Eighteen companies will pit their best machines against stubborn stalks, a byproduct of the newest hybrids. Pat will moderate the "Tillage in Corn Stalks Demonstration" taking place in the Southwest Demo Field each day at 12:30 pm.
Canada's Outdoor Farm Show News Release
"There is a lot of iron out on the Show grounds," says Paul Roper, Exhibit Sales & Demo Consultant for Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show. "We have had newly launched combines coming up from the United States, rolling in here at 4:00 am because drivers have been delayed at the border. But they are here now and the Site is solidly packed with the most amazing equipment."
Some new technologies have come from afar and some innovations have hatched right in Ontario’s back yard. Jake Kraayenbrink from Moorefield, Ontario, has invented an ingenious piece of equipment that inflates and deflates tires on farm equipment to reduce soil compaction. His company, AgriBrink, will be doing demonstrations throughout the Show. "Jake is an example of smart farmers coming up with interesting solutions for today’s farming challenges," adds Roper.
And, as the livestock keep rolling into the Site, the 70 dairy cows in the Britespan Dairy Innovation Centre remain contented and productive as they are milked on the new Lely A4 Astronaut and the DeLaval Voluntary Milking System (VMS).
Mark your calendars September 13, 14 & 15, 2011 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm each day off Highway # 59 on the northwest corner of Woodstock, Ontario. It is "where farmers meet" every September. Visit www.OutdoorFarmShow.com
