Apartments Push Up September Starts in Kitchener

Kitchener - Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released September preliminary housing starts data for the Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo Census Metropolitan Area. Construction began on 405 homes, a strong increase from the 145 units started in the same month last year and the highest September total since 2002.

Guelph - Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation released preliminary housing starts data for the Guelph Census Metropolitan Area. Builders started 167 dwellings in the third quarter of 2011, down from a stronger 229 units started in the same quarter last year.

'REMEMBER ME?' Job Seekers Should Follow Up on Resumes Within Two Weeks

TORONTO - Job seekers who are hesitant to contact a prospective employer after submitting their resume shouldn't be, an Accountemps survey suggests. Seven in 10 senior managers (71 per cent) interviewed encouraged candidates to follow up within two weeks of applying for a job. Only 2 per cent of respondents said applicants should not check in with the hiring manager.

OTTAWA - The seasonally adjusted annual rate of housing starts was 205,900 units in September, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. This is up from 191,900 units in August 2011.
