Prize For Sustainable Engineering Design
Kitchener - Enermodal Engineering?s Kitchener headquarters, A Grander View, was awarded Canada's most prestigious prize for sustainable engineering design. The Tree of Life was presented to Richard Lay and Tim Dietrich, the head mechanical/electrical designers for A Grander View, at the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Awards Gala in Ottawa on November 2.
"The awards showcase the important role of Canadian consulting engineering firms in every aspect of our lives," says John Gamble, president of ACEC. "To win the Tree for Life Award is considered a prestigious honour by the industry."
The award-winning project is the most energy-efficient office in Canada, using 82% less energy than a conventional office. The office is the first project to achieve triple LEED Canada Platinum, with certifications in the New Construction, Commercial Interiors, and Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance rating systems.
"After two years of working in our new headquarters, Enermodal is incredibly pleased not only to have actual energy use that verifies A Grander View as the most energy-efficient office in Canada, but also to win this well-known environmental sustainability award in the consulting engineering field," says Stephen Carpenter, president of Enermodal Engineering. "This award for A Grander View demonstrates that creating a high performance, economically feasible office is possible with present technology and the skills of a team of Canada?s most innovative M/E engineers."
The winners of the ACEC awards were selected by a panel of twelve organized by Canadian Consulting Engineer Magazine. All of the jurors have extensive backgrounds in engineering, construction and possess a knowledge of the industry. For full coverage of the Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards, visit here.
