Intelligent Community Forum Welcomes Ottawa and New Taipei City to its Global Association of Intelligent Communities
Signs Memorandum of Understanding for future membership with Chongqing, China
New York The Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), announced that Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and New Taipei City (NTC), Taiwan have joined the Intelligent Community Forum Foundation, the membership association of the Forum. The global network of Intelligent Communities include Dundee, Scotland; Stockholm, Sweden; Arlington County, Virginia, USA; Tallinn, Estonia; and Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Ottawa is represented to the Foundation by Bruce Lazenby, President and CEO of InvestOttawa, which delivers economic development programs and initiatives that increase entrepreneurial momentum, wealth and jobs in the City of Ottawa and its surrounding region. Mr. Lazenby said, “Ottawa’s economy continues to grow despite the ongoing uncertainty caused by the global financial crisis. Our success is largely founded on the 2000 plus technology companies supplying the infrastructure that drives intelligent communities. Our innovative ability to apply that infrastructure to specific global challenges, such as health care and smart buildings, gives us our competitive edge. The ICF Foundation is a vehicle for us to share our best practices as well as learn from other intelligent communities."
New Taipei City is a former county surrounding Taiwan's capital city of Taipei that was incorporated as the nation's largest and newest municipality at the end of 2010. New Taipei City is represented by Mr. Chao-Ming Wu, Chairman of the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission of NTC Government.
ICF also announced that the city of Chongqing, China has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Foundation, which is the first step in obtaining membership in the association. The MOU was signed in April by John Jung, co-founder of ICF, and Dr. Mu Huaping, Director of the Chongqing Economic Informatization Commission.
