Company Limited continues rapid growth with acquisition
Kitchener William Knell & Company Limited (Knell’s), a supplier of industrial supply and door & hardware products in Waterloo region proudly announces that they have acquired well known locksmith and security services company G&A Lock Service Ltd (G&A).
The acquisition of G&A bolsters Knell’s Door & Hardware’s service capabilities. The company’s existing 46 year relationship of working together will make the transition seamless, and will enable Knell’s to offer onsite, 24 hour, service to general contractors, property managers and business owners.
“The combination of Knell’s and G&A will provide a complete offering of products and services to assist our customers design, construct and maintain their projects with a wide range of wood and metal doors, hardware and electronic access control systems. We will be able to work with them through the entire lifecycle of a building from design thru completion as well as maintenance and repair working hand-in-hand with end users to identify needs, select the best products, install them properly the first time and now to maintain and service these products for their entire lifespan.” said Robert Dippell, President of Knell’s.
“We are excited to be joining forces with Knell’s who offer a wide array of architectural door hardware, integrated access control systems, automatic door operators, hollow metal doors and frames, wood doors, and miscellaneous construction specialty products that we already service for our customers. Together, we will be able to provide our customers with access to a broader range of products and services than ever before.” said Glenn Uhrig, President of G&A.
Collectively, the two companies have offices in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Guelph and have a combined workforce of almost 80 people. G&A Lock will continue to operate under the G&A brand as a subsidiary and division of Knell’s. “G&A, like Knell’s, has a long and proud history in Waterloo Region and we feel that its important to continue to build the G&A Lock brand. ” said Mr. Dippell.
The acquisition is the latest step in Knell’s rapid growth over the past 10 years. Over that time, the company has greatly expanded its product lines to include commercial wood and metal doors, hardware and electronic control systems. In 2009, Knell’s built a new 38,000 square foot state of the art warehouse, light manufacturing facility and head office on Shirley Drive in Kitchener. Along with these changes, the company has invested in building new systems and processes. The company continues with the implementation of new Enterprise Resource Planning software(ERP) and a fully integrated architectural detailing system, complete with Building Information Modelling(BIM) capabilities. All of these exciting changes have been capped off with a new corporate brand that Knell’s recently launched in early May 2012.
“We’ve experienced tremendous growth and really transformed our business over the past 5 years. We have a new facility, new computer systems and processes in place to ensure that we provide the best customer experience possible. With all of these changes, we felt the time was right to build a new corporate brand identity that better reflects who we are today.” said Rob Tomchick, Operations Manager of Knell’s Door & Hardware division.
Knell’s launched their new brand the first week of May. The acquisition of G&A by Knell’s closed effective May 30th, 2012.
