Global Experts Poll: Economic Confidence Up Significantly in Second Quarter

Economic Confidence Index rises to 0.48 from 0.43 last quarter, closer to optimistic territory above 0.5

Geneva, Switzerland – Confidence in the world economy has increased significantly over the past three months, according to experts polled by the World Economic Forum. The Economic Confidence Index rose to 0.48 from 0.43 on a scale of 0 to 1 during the first three months of the year, amid an easing of the Eurozone crisis and belief that the world economy may had avoided a double-dip recession. The score puts the index back in neutral territory for the first time since it fell into low-confidence territory in the third quarter of 2012; it marks a return to its most recent peak during the second quarter of 2012. However, the index did not break into positive territory above 0.5.

Hydro One restores power to 65,000 customers

TORONTO - Hydro One confirms it has restored power to 65,000 customers following a storm that caused widespread damage to Hydro One's electricity distribution system across Ontario. More than 1,200 Hydro One employees are working to restore power to the remaining 85,000 customers.

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and Faculty of Science are hosting this interactive event, organized by the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.

Laurier scientists awarded Ontario Research Fund grants

Waterloo - Three Wilfrid Laurier University scientists have been awarded more than $150,000 in infrastructure grants by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. Stephanie Dewitte-Orr, Diane Gregory and Geoff Horsman have each been awarded an Ontario Research Fund-Research Infrastructure grant to provide equipment and resources for their research labs.

Cirque de la Symphonie Returns to the KWS with a High-Flying Program

Kitchener/Waterloo - The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony is thrilled to present three performances of Cirque de la Symphonie on April 26 at 8 pm and April 27 at 2:30 and 8 pm at the Centre In The Square. Led by KWS Assistant Conductor Evan Mitchell, the new program will feature incredible acrobatic feats performed to wonderful music by the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony.
