Youth Mural Project Unveiled on April 20th!
Kitchener - During the week of March break, 15 refugee youth created a mural on a wall at the Family Centre. The purpose of the week’s exercise was to not only create a beautiful and inspirational work of art, but also to provide these youth with an opportunity for personal growth and self-expression, the development of teamwork skills, the discovery and development of artistic talent, and to participate in something fun and unifying.
Ministry of Natural Resources stocking brown trout in Soper Park
Cambridge - The Friends of Mill Creek, a community based organization will be assisting the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources with stocking brown trout in Mill Creek at Soper Park in Cambridge. Stocking will take place on the afternoon of April 24, 2013 and will involve releasing 500 fish that have been raised in the MNR Harwood Fish Culture Station into the local cold water stream.
EPA Proposes to Reduce Toxic Pollutants Discharged into Waterways by Power Plants
WASHINGTON In accordance with a consent decree and in line with requirements under the Clean Water Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today will propose a range of options to help reduce dangerous pollutants, including mercury, arsenic, lead, and selenium that are released into America’s waterways by coal ash, air pollution control waste and other waste from steam electric power plants.
