Young Travel Professionals Names Toronto Chapter Board

The global organization is the first networking group created to bring together the next generation of travel industry leaders

Toronto - Young Travel Professionals recently announced the launch of its Toronto Chapter earlier this month with a creative Canadian Chapter Board at the helm. YTP-TO Board Members, made up of Toronto’s rising industry stars, hail from diverse backgrounds, but share one common goal: to promote connections among the next generation of travel and tourism leaders in one of the greatest cities in the world and beyond.

“It's hard to break out of social and professional circles in any city, in any business,” says Adam Hodge, Digital Content Editor at Goway Travel. “Young Travel Professionals fills that void and creates a space where this isn't the case, uniting an industry of young people who have made their passion their profession.” Adam joins five other travel and tourism professionals to pioneer the organization’s second Canadian outpost in Toronto.

Introducing the official YTP Toronto Board:

• Melissa Medeiros, Chapter Liaison & PR Manger // Account Manager at Bannikin Travel and Tourism Ltd.
• Iris Serbanescu, Marketing & Events Manager // Special Projects Coordinator at Away by TTI Travel
• Michael McCreesh, Mentor Program Liaison // Project Coordinator at Ontario By Bike
• Adam Hodge, Assistant Marketing Manager // Digital Content Editor at Goway Travel
• Zach Vanasse, Membership Manager // Journalist at Logimonde Media
• Kendra Cassels, Social Media Manager // Strategic Communications Manager at BCD Travel

The Toronto Board will work together to host monthly social mixers, as well as foster online community spaces for industry peers to socialize and grow their professional and personal networks. A mentorship program is also in the works for 2014.

What Board Members Have to Say:

“YTP provides a fresh opportunity to foster local connections, but it also provides a unique platform to collaborate with our global members as well. Now that’s something to get excited about,” says Melissa.

"The Mentorship Program at YTP-TO will offer a new dimension to networking in travel and hospitality for Toronto professionals, which is something that really has been neglected in terms of workforce development and establishing career paths in tourism,” says Michael.

“I am most excited about connecting with the people that I will proudly call my peers in this industry for years to come... Exchanging business ideas, discussing travel trends, and motivating each other to achieve success,” says Iris.

“It’s been said that the Canadian travel industry lacks young people, and this organization is an excellent way to bring young industry minds together and encourage future growth for individuals and the industry,” says Zach.
