Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oldest Gymnastics Club celebrates 50th Anniversary

Celebrates its 50th year of operation with celebration events running September to November; seeking alumni and memorabilia

May 11, 2015 Kitchener, ON – Kitchener-Waterloo Gymnastics Club is looking for alumni of KW Gymnastics from the past 50 years, along with memorabilia to display at its various 50th anniversary events to be held between September and November 2015.

KW Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organization that has served the Kitchener Waterloo community. The club is managed and run by a professional staff with a volunteer board of directors. It is affiliated with Gymnastics Ontario, Gymnastics Canada, and locally with the City of Kitchener's Department of Community Services and the City of Waterloo's Recreation and Leisure Services. Gymnastics programs help children achieve the physical fitness goals set in the Canadian Physical Activities Guidelines. KW Gymnastics offers the vigorous- intensity activities children need to strengthen muscle and bone, and improve general health in a safe and friendly environment.

If you are alumni (athlete, family or otherwise) from the KW Gymnastics club and would like to be kept updated on this year’s 50th anniversary celebrations, the KW Gymnastics administration team would love to hear from you. Bi-monthly we send out a newsletter that will contain news and updates about what is going on at the gym.

KW Gymnastics is also seeking memorabilia to share the club’s 50 years of history at events like our golf tournament to be held on September 20th, 2015 and a “reunion” and Dinner on November 7th, where athletes throughout the ages will be invited to remember the memories they had at the gymnastics club.

If you have memorabilia such as medals, certificates, uniforms, trophies or photos from any class, show, meet, event or competition that adds to the history of KW Gymnastics, we would love to hear from you. Please contact our office at by October 30th, 2015 to arrange for your memories and memorabilia to be shared with others who have been on the same journey as you. All memorabilia on loan will be returned to the owner immediately following our November celebrations.
