Overwhelming community support for City’s annual Toys for Tickets program

More than $13,000 in toys collected since program launched

Cambridge - Mayor Doug Craig, along with Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters’ Association (CPFFA) president, Chris Davidson and Christmas Basket Fund co-chair, Luis Gomes, were at Cambridge's City Hall to collect the toys donated during the City’s Toys for Tickets program.

The seventh annual Toys for Tickets initiative wrapped up yesterday, Dec. 14, with piles of toys donated from the community.

“The amazing thing about the toys for tickets program is that we always see such a great response from the community,” remarked Mayor Doug Craig. “We see people bringing in toys who haven’t even received a ticket; they just want to get involved and help make the holidays special for a young boy or girl.”

Over the past seven years that the Toys for Tickets program has been running, more than $13,000 in toys have been donated. The toys collected support the CPFFA’s Christmas Basket Fund, and will be added to the Christmas hampers they distribute to local families in need.

Community members wishing to donate the Christmas Basket Fund can drop of food or new, unwrapped gifts at any of the Cambridge fire stations. For a list of locations, visit www.cambridge.ca/fire_department.
