Catholic Board Wins International Business Association Award

2014-15 budget process earns kudos

Waterloo Region – For third consecutive year the Waterloo Catholic District School Board has received the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in budget presentation. "The award represents a significant achievement by the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and reflects the commitment by its staff and the school district to maintain the highest standards of school budgeting," statement from a unknown representative from the Association of School Business Officials International.

• The Meritorious Budget Award is awarded only to school boards that have met or exceeded the Meritorious Budget Award criteria;

• Award recipients must have presented a budget that:
- promotes sound fiscal management practices;
- encourages both short and long range budgetary goals;
- defines up to date budget practices, challenges and methodologies applied; and,
- provides a clear presentation which is readily understandable to people without a financial background.

• The award was developed by ASBO to enhance school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting school system budgets;

• The award process provides constructive feedback from ASBO on how current budget process can be improved;

• The Association of School Business Officials International is based in Reston, Virginia.
