Evok Innovations Announces Winner of Cleantech Pitch Session at GLOBE 2016
Vancouver - Evok Innovations ("Evok"), announced last week the winner of the Cleantech Pitch Session, FREDsense Technologies at the GLOBE 2016 Innovation Expo-the exposition portion of North America's largest and most influential sustainable-business leadership summit.
FREDsense Technologies develops biosensors that detect contaminants in water. Finalists from across the country each presented their technologies to a panel of experts including Andrée-Lise Méthot, Founder & Managing Partner, Cycle Capital Management; Jack Gin, Entrepreneur, Engineer, Angel-Investor; Mark Trevitt, Associate Director, BDC Venture Capital and Marty Reed, CEO, Evok Innovations.
The winner will receive a one-on-one meeting with a technology development expert from a leading Canadian energy company, and the honour of being the winner of the inaugural Cleantech Pitch Session award.
Evok invited entrepreneurs and inventors to submit their early-stage clean technologies for the pitch session. Judges evaluated submissions based on the applicability and value of the technology to the oil and gas industry and the structure of the pitch slide deck.
Evok is a new $100 million cleantech fund which is a unique partnership between the BC Cleantech CEO Alliance, Cenovus Energy and Suncor Energy. Evok's vision is to bolster the competitive advantage and environmental performance of the Canadian oil and gas industry through the accelerated adoption of innovative, low impact products and services, resulting in lower carbon emissions, and more sustainable water consumption and waste water disposal, while working towards minimizing the risk of future marine and land spills and disturbances.
