Cardio Pulmonary Services to Provide Accessible Cardiac Care
Waterloo - Cardio Pulmonary Services (CPS), an accredited cardiac and pulmonary diagnostic facility, recently opened at its new location in the Medical Center at The Boardwalk on Ira Needles Boulevard in Waterloo. CPS offers a unique approach by providing one-stop cardiac care for patients in the region. CPS’s new Boardwalk location takes advantage of the medical services (such as medical imaging and laboratory services) already established at the Medical Center, fitting well with their vision for patient care.
“Our goal was to bring health care providers together into one location to make access to cardiac services for patients easier, convenient and comprehensive” explained Dr. Mohan Babapulle, Cardiologist and specialist in echocardiography. “Our group of cardiologists recognized that gaining timely access to high quality cardiac care in our community can be challenging for patients and referring physicians alike, and we acted decisively to fill that need.”
Under this new model, 12 local cardiologists who also practice at the St. Mary's Regional Cardiac Care Centre will work collaboratively at CPS, bringing together cardiologists with expertise in Echocardiography, Nuclear cardiology, Heart Failure, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention, Arrhythmia, Pacemakers, and Interventional Cardiology, as well as Cardiac Surgery. Our CPS cardiologists will provide additional specialized services to patients at the St. Mary's Regional Cardiac Care Centre if required. When necessary, they will work closely with the cardiac surgical team at St. Mary's to provide the best care their patients. “By working together at The Boardwalk site, we have a unique opportunity to offer cardiac services in a way that is seamless for patients and their families. Access to high quality cardiac care for patients in our community has been a problem in the past and is our primary goal at present” stated Dr. Brian McNamara, an Interventional cardiologist and Chief of Cardiovascular Services at the St. Mary's Regional Cardiac Care Centre.
CPS expects to provide care to over 50,000 patients annually from Waterloo Region and surrounding areas. “We are proud of the reputation CPS has built over 30 years of providing excellent patient care and a positive patient experience. We have recognized the needs of patients in our community” said Dr. Claus Rinne, Cardiologist and an Arrhythmia/Heart Failure specialist. “We will explore even more ways to improve our services in the coming years, and to improve the care we provide to our patients who rely heavily on us for their healthcare needs. We are all very excited.”
