Fundraising Thank You

“She Deserves It”….Rebuild Haven House

Cambridge - Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region is excited to reveal the new natural play area at the rebuilt Haven House thanks to a partnership with Reid’s Heritage Construction (RHC)! RHC not only donated the materials and supplies, but provided the labour to build the secure outdoor play area for the children at Haven House.

Mary Zilney, CEO of Women’s Crisis Services is grateful for this additional generosity.

"Due to our shortfall in fundraising for the rebuild Haven House project, our plan was to open without a play area in place for the children. Our builders, Reid's Heritage Construction (RHC) saved the day by delighting us with the phenomenal news that they would provide a play area in-kind. We are very fortunate to have partnered with RHC on this important community project! Our sincere thanks is extended to everyone who worked so diligently to make this happen."

Even before the official ground breaking of Rebuild Haven House in June 2015, RHC focused on creating a safe and nurturing home for women and children escaping domestic abuse. Their steadfast dedication to this project was evident again as they offered their support of the outdoor space.

"RHC was very pleased to be part of the Haven House Project and we were delighted that we could contribute in kind with the 'Team Building' playground build. I hope that the children that play in this area enjoy it as much as our valuable staff had building it" says Eric Schmidt, RHC President.

Located at the corner of Acorn Way and Elgin Street, the new shelter will increase current capacity from 30 beds to 45 beds, will accommodate adequate space for programming and partnerships, and be an environment conducive to healing.

The PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE of HAVEN HOUSE is September 8, 2016 from 4:00- 7:00 PM.
