Grand River Country Events for May and June

Registration is underway for summer camps

Grand River - Registration is now open for the many summer camp programs for kids age six to 16 provided by the Grand River Conservation Authority. These are available at five nature centres throughout the watershed: Guelph Lake Nature Centre (Guelph), Laurel Creek Nature Centre (Waterloo), Apps' Mill Nature Centre (Brantford) Rockwood Nature Centre, Belwood Lake fishing camp.

Drayton Entertainment 2013 Season

DRAYTON – With excitement building for the launch of the new Dunfield Theatre Cambridge in March, Drayton Entertainment has unveiled a spectacular 2013 Season consisting of blockbuster musicals, hilarious comedies, poignant dramas, and three original productions..

Waterloo Region - Today, more than 30 million people around the world have been displaced due to war and violence, creating nearly 10 million child refugees. Through this inspiring exhibit, visitors of all ages explore what it means to be a refugee, and better understand their hardships and hopes for a brighter future. Through its seven interactive areas, this awe-inspiring exhibit encourages visitors to consider how it feels to flee home, leave everything behind, and face the future with uncertainty and hope.

Works from artists Michael Adamson, Edward Burtynsky, Charles Pachter and Nicolas Ruel to be auctioned for swimmable, drinkable, fishable water

TORONTO - Lake Ontario Waterkeeper announced that its second annual gala and art auction presented by the RBC Blue Water Project will be co-hosted by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., President of Waterkeeper Alliance and photographer Edward Burtynsky. The 2013 Waterkeeper Gala will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Corus Quay in Toronto.

Cambridge - The finalists for the prestigious Bernice Adams Awards are in and the winners will be announced at the 31st Annual Bernice Adams Memorial Awards Gala on May 24th at 6:30pm at the Galt Country Club, 750 Coronation Boulevard.

Cambridge - Shred-Tech, a Cambridge-based company with global recognition, is partnering with United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries for its sixth annual Shred Day on Saturday, May 25th from 9am to 12pm in the Cambridge Centre Mall parking lot (355 Hespeler Road).

WATERLOO REGION - The 18th annual Waterloo Wellington Children's Groundwater Festival has arrived. Over 5,000 students will learn important messages about water at the week-long event held at the Waterloo Region Museum and Doon Heritage Village in Kitchener. This year's event begins on May 27, and features a VIP Day on May 29 and culminates with the free public EcoFest on Saturday, June 1.

Cambridge - Rock the Bear is excited to announce Canadian music icon Tom Cochrane will perform over a two day period the evening of June 8th at The Cambridge Mill and at the second annual “Rock the Bear Concert Series” June 9th at Whistle Bear Golf Club. Proceeds generated from the event will support current capital projects for two respected community organizations, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation and Women's Crisis Services Waterloo Region.

Waterloo Region - Exploring Trees Inside and Out helps visitors discover nature through multiple perspectives and inspires people to get outdoors, explore the wonders of nature and develop connections with the natural world.

The City of Toronto announced a selection of artists who will present projects at the 2013 edition of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche. On Saturday, October 5, more than 110 contemporary art projects will be exhibited across the city for 12 hours from sunset to sunrise.
