Chrysler Canada Announces January 2009 Sales

Windsor - Chrysler Canada announced January sales. Total sales for the month of January were 11,259 units, compared to 16,952 in the same month last year. Down 33.5 % year to year.

"It's no secret that today's automotive market is tougher than a 10 cent steak," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada. "But the combination of our great product portfolio and exceptional offers in the marketplace helped us to start the year as the second best selling automaker in Canada."

January Sales Highlights
Total sales in January reflect a reduction of fleet in favour of retail sales compared to the prior month. Retail sales were up six per cent for the month versus December 2008, while fleet sales declined 40 per cent over the same month last year.

Dodge Journey retail sales were up 37 per cent over last month. Total Journey sales of 781 ensured the vehicle's position as Canada's best-selling crossover. The Journey marries the best of the SUV, minivan, and compact car segments into one complete fuel-efficient and affordable package.
