Looking Forward

Research Canada Congratulates New Liberal Government

Ottawa - Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery congratulates the new Liberal Government on its Election 2015 victory and extends a warm welcome to all new and returning Members of Parliament.

"Research Canada looks forward to working closely with the new government and all Members of Parliament to advance health research and health innovation in Canada," says Dr. Ryan Wiley, Chair of Research Canada and President of Shift Health. "Health research holds the key to solving major health problems and it is an essential input to health sector decision-making and a driver of economic development. To have impact; however, it requires a predictable and supportive environment that allows the talent and infrastructure in which Canada has invested over the years to flourish. We are confident that together, with the new government, we can accomplish this end," he added.

During the 2015 Election Campaign, Research Canada's Members, Supporters and Partners were encouraged by the Liberal Party of Canada's response to Research Canada's 2015 Candidate Survey. "The new government expressed support for rebuilding the federal government's capacity to deliver on evidence-based decision-making by reinvesting in its science and research capacity," says Ms. Deborah Gordon-El-Bihbety, President and CEO of Research Canada. "We are pleased that the new government understands the importance of investing more broadly in scientific research and we look forward to working with them in this endeavor. We agree with the new Liberal Government that 'research is where the future is born,'" she added.
