Hamilton United Basketball Club Announces General Manager and Head Coach

The Hamilton United Basketball Club announces Rob Bowden Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager.

Hamilton - Jeff Young, Team President gave the following statement, “I am ecstatic to announce Rob as Executive Vice President and General Manager.” “Rob has been a fixture in the local basketball community tirelessly working to promote youth basketball within our great city. His combination of basketball knowledge and business savvy coupled with his passion for the game is exactly what we were looking for in a GM.”
After obtaining a business degree from York University in 1980, Mr. Bowden went on to manage several successful businesses establishing his credibility as a successful business executive. Since 2010 Rob has been the president of the Ancaster Magic Minor Basketball organization.

Bowden Stated, “This is a great opportunity for us involved with the team to bring professional basketball to the Hamilton Area. I know the city of Hamilton and surrounding communities will embrace the team and under the tutelage of Coach Tarry Upshaw will continue in the winning tradition that has been set by the local Basketball Clubs.”

The first decision Mr. Bowden made was to hire Veteran Coach Tarry Upshaw. Coach Upshaw has over 20 years’ experience coaching with a number of championship victories at various levels including; High School, College/University, Professional, and the National level. “This is a great opportunity for us involved with the team to bring professional basketball to the Hamilton Area. I know the city of Hamilton and surrounding communities will embrace the team and under the tutelage of Coach Tarry Upshaw will continue in the winning tradition that has been set by the local Basketball Clubs.”

Tarry will bring a level of experience and professionalism that will be extremely beneficial to the organization. For the last four years Tarry Upshaw has been the Director and Head Coach of Regional Elite Development Academy. His R.E.D.A teams have won three NPSAA Championships and have been highly ranked in six European Tournaments.

“I am very excited for this opportunity to build and contribute to the basketball community in the city of Hamilton.” Said Upshaw. “This region has always been home to many tremendously talented players who will now get the chance to develop and make the jump to the next level.”

A press conference will be held before the season begins in December to discuss further details. Team executives will be on hand to address any questions or concerns. All local media outlets are encouraged to attend and make this event a truly special one and welcome professional basketball to Hamilton.
